The system
PAS4 is a proprietary policy administration system developed at Empirica Actuaries. Policy administration software supports the operational record of an insurance policy over time—from its setup and changes through ongoing administration. PAS4 is described here at that general level because its implementation is not public.
My contribution
I contributed to the system’s data and actuarial functionality. The application used Python and Django, with MySQL as its database; R was also part of the project’s technology stack.
In a policy system, data design and actuarial logic need to work together: policy information must be represented consistently, and calculations must use the appropriate data. My work sat at that intersection.
Client-specific workflows, system internals, and measured outcomes are omitted because the product is proprietary.
